Victorious

Growing more as an independent designer, I am learning and experiencing things every day. Learning life’s everyday lessons. One of those lessons is that work and inspiration come and go. Sometimes good ideas just pop up, and others take longer to manifest. At times, work can be slow. Power through until business is good. Be persistent and consistent. Lately, I’ve been having an influx of work and inspiration. Now to put it all to good use. I have three shirt designs I’ve produced recently. All being released within the week. I had some personal time constraints and I came out pretty “victorious” to say the least.

A while ago, I was driving to work, and I was listening to some new Audio Push. I get inspired by music. I listen to what the artists are actually saying. I try to convey their meaning through my own translations and designs. Spreading a message myself. I was listening to this song and later after I was at work, drew the words from the song three times. MORE WINS. To me, it means go out and succeed. After you put in that hard work, what shirt do you wear to show how accomplished you feel? That inspired the More Wins Tee. Of course, more wins aren’t enough for me. The design wasn’t finished without something that says it’s a celebration. Ironically, Big KRIT was releasing an album at the time as well. He has a song called Confetti. That’s exactly what I needed to finish my design. I had the matte white more wins across the chest, and now, in silver glitter, layered on top of the words, are silver glitter confetti. Sparkling and making the shirt pop like never. Looking at the design now, I wonder how I had a design at all without the confetti. Wow.

A co-worker requested a design she originally saw online. It was a long-sleeve shirt with the word "Victorious" displayed across the chest area. Of course, I didn't copy the design. I made it my way. For the "Kingwolf design," I worked with my co-worker to customize the font and select the material used for the words. Originally, the words were supposed to be white. After explaining the colors I had on stock, the color changed to gold glitter. Not being able to get my hands-on gold glitter, the color was changed to metallic purple, then to silver glitter to best accent the pink long sleeve. After creating the shirt, I also added a Kingwolf Designs tag on the rear tail of the shirt in the same font as the words on the front. I think this is a creative way to advertise myself and help those who purchase products from me. To help me network with others. I enjoyed making a shirt that my co-worker can wear. That I was able to customize to her preferences.

I am the type of gift giver who likes to present gifts that are meaningful. For my dad’s 60th birthday, I think I was able to do just that. My dad, Kingwolf Sr (lol), is from North Philadelphia, born and raised. If you catch him watching any sport, you know what teams he’s representing. Unless they aren’t in the playoffs at the moment. Then, its just for fun. But I’m off topic. I wanted to create a shirt that he could where on any sporting occasion. My original idea was to put all his team logos on one shirt. The biggest problems I ran into were having to redesign every logo to avoid copyright infringement, or appropriating certain elements of the logos into the design and knowing which elements to leave out. After some experimentation, I had to simplify my design in order to save some materials. For the final design, I stuck with 2 logos the Eagles and the 76ers. I placed the 76ers logo on the front chest area of a green short sleeve shirt. The logo consisted of a black matte basketball, a silver glitter number 7, and a black glitter 6ers. The Eagles logo was placed large and in charge on the back of the shirt in black glitter. My dad loved the shirt when he received it on game day He said. “My boy made this for me.” To his best friend. That’s all I needed to hear.

All in all, things have been getting a bit busier lately. That's good. I welcome a challenge to rise to. I hope you'll rise too. Continue to follow as I plot a different course to success.
